The Northern Cheyenne tribe is re-introducing their powerful, ancient wisdom teachings. Each healing song invokes different energies which resonate with frequencies of the person who is singing. The more the singer is centered within himself/herself the more powerful are his/her prayer songs and we are witnessing miraculous healings! Family gatherings serve to radiate pure positive healing energy which promotes healing on all levels: spiritual, physical, emotional/mental.

They are an integral part of “a way of life that is traditionally a way which families help families”. As we gather around the fire in a tepee we align and renew ourselves which promotes harmony within the community. The alignment and healing process begins by facing lodge poles from pine trees for the tepee on the east. The east represents new beginnings, new life, and procreation. For the Northern Cheyenne tribe the east is associated with sacred four numbers and colors. The family gathering begins at sunset and it concludes at sunrise. This time is ideally aligned with nature and thus human beings. This cycle is the most conducive for meditation and healing energies.

The ceremony of the Native American Church

It comes from a woman who had lost her son. She missed him so terribly that Maheo heard her cry for help. So what happened next was that Grandmother Earth spirit spoke to her in her dream. In her dream she had observed this ceremony that was inside a t-pee lodge. In this t-pee lodge there were four men who were conducting a ceremony in which each man had a duty. The man who was taking care of the door was the busiest. He had propped the lodge up and prepared the grounds outside with a pile of wood that would keep the sacred light bright throughout the ceremony. Inside the lodge he constructed an alter that consisted of a half moon with the sacred light in the center of the lodge. He went down to the nearby stream and found a clear path for the retrieval of water. The water is employed two times: once at midnight when the door man cleanses the old energies. ( After that he brings the water to purify the attendes.) And second time in the morning when the water woman bring in the t-pee water.

The lodge representing a woman facing directly east held the ceremonial people in her womb. These first glimpses of the sun's rays would be the nectar of the day. The alignment with the sunrise is essentially our centering with the Universe. The door man was most inviting as a host to all who would partake in the ceremonies.

The next gentleman was the one who would take care of the sound of life, assisting in helping everyone breathe as one with the Universe. The water drum beat resonates a direct cosmic connection following each song the road man sings. The drum consists of a string on a bow. Today, it has evolved into a drum made of a kettle from the early pioneer days. The drum is smoothly filed and a smoked tanned hide from the neck part of deer, elk or moose. This drum sound and songs are the sound of life and the heartbeat inside the womb of the t-pee.

The doorman or fire chief actually works the ceremony. He is in constant contact with Maheo. When all is done he is the one that takes down the t-pee. He takes down the t-pee in such a way as to untie all of which is bound and restricted, so that we maintain that boundless consciousness.

In her dream she noticed that there was a man that simply sat there in calm meditation all night bearing the cedar. He clears the energies, so attendes can become more receptive to new, pure universal energies.

The maintenance of the direct connection to the Master spirit of the Universe, thus becomes impervious to all the negativity, anger which causes loss and destruction, and of having enemies. The invincibility of these man would be that they eternally espouse peace. Being negative, angry and a having enemies would be negating and limiting for them.

The fourth man is the road man. This man with faith removes all limitations. After that he gives full intention to water woman. Her intention ultimately becomes road man's lead to convey to the Universe.

Her intention thus becomes the foundation of which the whole ceremony is based. So in collusion with one another these man cultivate the energy, plan, prepare and expect the most optimum results, through their actions.

This dream vowed her the whole ceremony and the various stages, including all the songs.
